TED is a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world.
TED is a non-profit dedicated to ideas worth spreading. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, and Design - three areas that are collectively shaping our future. Primarily, TED organises events where the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited to share their ideas. These talks are recorded and uploaded to reach a larger audience. TED speakers have included Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Elizabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Sal Khan, Daniel Kahneman, and many other inspiring leaders.

What is TEDx?

TEDx supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community.
In 2007, TED started a program called TEDx (x = independently organised event). TEDx events are licensed programs that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. With the advent of TEDx events, audiences around the world have been gathering for deep discussions about innovative ideas. TEDx is designed to give communities and individuals the opportunity to stimulate dialogue through TED-like experiences at a local level. At these events, people from the community take the stage to inspire others and thus are shaping the future of the community.

About the Ripples Theme

One Drop | Thousands of Ripples
The theme "One Drop—Thousands of Ripples" is a take on the butterfly effect where the repercussions from one action far exceed its original domain. We aim to take this concept and connect it with the power of positive action. Our goal is to demonstrate that massive change is the result of small yet powerful actions.
